Week 8 Day 4 Deload Squatting with my DL shoes....

Did a little experiment today for my squat workout. Left my new fancy princess shoes in my gym bag and instead squatted in my flat deadlifting shoes. It actually felt real good and my balance driving up out of the hole was good. No forward lurch nothing...so once again I'm changing things up. Next week for my heavy squat day I'm going to stick with these shoes and see how my body responds to the heavier weight. Princess will be on standby....
This was my last deload workout so on Saturday the hard week starts. Shoulders are up that day but I will be keeping it fairly easy on them now. For the rest of the workouts it will be beast mode on for the remainder of the week. For intensity, this week will be my peak and by the time it's done, I'll have a good idea of what my true 1 rep max will be for competition day (I'll leave those numbers as a secret!). I battled with a few different ways to peak for the competition but in the end I'm sticking mainly with how it's written in the book. I basically will start my testing week earlier rather than later in the month leading up to my competition. My thought process on this was two fold. If I tweaked something I would have more time to heal up and give my CNS/body more time to recover from the heavy intensity before I max it out again on competition day. This also keeps my training in a wave pattern, something I have been doing for the last 8 weeks except for my bench press training.
The rest of the workout was again fluff. I did sub back in romanian deadlifts but kept the weight on the lighter side. Just something my gut said I needed to do..
Did you even read the quote on the pic gym rats....ya right!!
